"...the most universal and up-to-date source of information currently available on international organizations" - Yearbook review

Global Action Networks

The Yearbook of International Organizations is the most universal and up-to-date source of information currently available on international organizations. This series has become the definitive source of information on all types of organizations, administrators, embassies and government agencies concerned with international affairs. Volume 3 is a comprehensive overview of the range and network of preoccupations and activities of international organizations - also organized by subject and region. Similar to a commercial "yellow pages" directory, it groups international and regional bodies under 3,500 categories of common concerns, aims and activities. Organized into the four main sections, Global Action Networks complements the main organization entries of Volume 1 by re-grouping organizations into all those categories appropriate to their stated interests. In addition, organizations are also grouped here with multilateral treaties and with those world problems identified in a given subject. A unique coding systems highlights the network of relationships between subject areas and serves to integrate the functions of organizations with the subject of their activities. Such information suggests possibilities for the development of new and greater contacts between organizations.

Convenient access to this abundance of information is provided by a detailed English subject index of nearly 20,000 terms - including synonyms, variants and sub-categories - each preceded by an alphanumeric code directing the user to the appropriate section of Volume 3.
